Ray-based Use Ray-based mode to detect thin areas and sharp edges. ▪Open the 3D model from the following folder: <Installation folder 3DViewStation>/Samples/micro_engine.CATProduct.3dvs ▪Isolate the Housing Front geometry in the structure area. ▪Activate the Analyze tab in the function area. ▪Select the Wall thickness function from the Mold function group. ▪Select Ray-based - very detailed from the presets. ▪Click on [Compute]. ▪Set the last value in the color map to 5 mm. As a result, you have a more relevant scale for the use case at hand. ▪Click on [Update intermediate values]. ▪View the geometry from below (View > Bottom) to see the sharp edge (red) of the hole. Rolling ball Use the Rolling ball mode to detect areas with large material thickness. ▪Open the 3D model from the following folder: <Installation folder 3DViewStation>/Samples/micro_engine.CATProduct.3dvs ▪Isolate the Housing geometry in the structure area. ▪Activate the Analyze tab in the function area. ▪Select the Wall thickness function from the Mold function group. ▪Select Rolling ball - very detailed from the presets. ▪Click on [Compute]. Areas with the highest concentration of material are shown in blue and purple.
