Structure Compare

Toolpane Settings

This chapter describes the tool settings of the Structure Compare function.

Setting / Button		Default value (If multiple options are available, the default is bold.)	Description
Structure compare
Node filter		▪All ▪Structure tree ▪Product occurrence	Choose which nodes will be used during the comparison (Default: ''All''). Alternative: - ''Product occurance'': only uses the lowest product occurances for the comparison.
Visible only		true	On: Hidden nodes will be ignored.
List identical nodes		false	On: Also list nodes that have no changes.
Maximum number of changes		3	Nodes with more changes will be considered to be entirely different nodes. If this number is set too high, it may cause false positives.
Show attributes		true	On: Adds an additional output column for each attribute in ''Attributes to display''.
Attributes to display			Lists all attributes/properties to be contained in the table output. Click on the three points at the end of the field to open a dialog, where you can choose the attributes/properties.
Remove empty columns		true	On: Columns where all values are empty will be removed from the table.
	Filters
	Structure	true	Node was added, removed or moved within the structure.
	Geometry	true	Whether the node geometry has changed.
	Physical properties	true	Changes to physical properties (volume, area, density or mass).
	Attributes	true	Attributes added, removed or value changed.
	Transformation	true	Rotation, translation, scale.
	Appearance	true	Changes to color, material or texture.
	Visibility	true	Node visibility was changed.
	Text	Note	Changes of texts, e.g. CustomIds or PMI texts.
	File path	true	File path of the node (if available).
	Visualization
	Show comparison by	▪Selection ▪Ghost other parts ▪Hide other parts	Type of visualization when selecting an entry.
	Zoom fit	true	Fits the selected geometry into the visible area.

Tutorial

This function allows you to compare the structure of two parts or two assemblies within one scene.

▪Open the first file.

▪On the Start ribbon, in the File section, click Import to add the file you want to compare to the first file.

▪On the Analyze ribbon, in the Compare section, click Structure 3dvs_tut_struccomp_structure .

▪You can configure the output you want to receive with the settings in the Tool Area.

▪Finally, click on Compute.

The result is displayed in the table at the top of the window. When you click an entry in the table, the compared geometries are selected and fitted into the view (default; see Toolpane Settings > Visualization for more options).

Icon	Function	Description
	Export	If you want to save the results or need them for further processing, you can export the table to different formats: Text, CSV, XML, JSON or an HTML table.
	Copy to Windows clipboard	Instead of exporting to a file, you can also copy the table to the clipboard. The formats mentioned above are also available here and can be set per preference.
