WebViewer - a simple tutorial and demo for loading sample files on localhost (HTTP port 80):
This localhost mode is for demonstration purposes only - not for production systems!
▪Extract the package to a directory of your choice on a local drive (by running the WebViewer setup or by extracting the package ZIP file)
▪Place your WebViewer.lic license file in the same directory
▪Place your models (.3DVS or native CAD files) in the models subfolder.
▪Start ViewStationWeb.exe and go to http://localhost/ in your browser
▪Select a model file to load in the upper left corner Start > Open
Optional:
▪If you want to reference a different model folder: Edit CRendererInstance.ini > ModelRepository
▪If port 80 is not available on your system (ViewStationWeb.exe closes after startup), you need to edit the configuration files
▪To start the WebViewer client from machines other than your local host, you must use and modify the configuration files
▪Define your system address in variable g_sWebSocketAdress in ..\WebViewer\www\custom\overrides.js
▪The setup will install all redistributable setups from ..\WebViewer\redist
To set up a productive WebViewer instance, run the setup to extract the contents of the package to a directory of your choice on a local drive and read the chapters Customizations and Installing WebViewer as a Windows Service.
For SSL offloading (HTTPS and WSS - Web socket secure), set up a reverse proxy in front of WebViewer such as NGINX, Apache or IIS. Your certificate for SSL will be managed there. You can run more than one instance of WebViewer by duplicating the WebViewer directory, configuring different ports, and installing a separate Windows service for each instance.
To update WebViewer installations, copy or backup your modified configuration files ViewStationWeb.ini and CRendererInstance.ini, license webviewer.lic and customizations in ..\WebViewer\www\custom\overrides.js.
